Description
8/20/24 – This is a very nice example of a Pickelhaube helmet for the Bavarian Police (Gendarmerie), dating to the late 1880’s to the late 1910’s. The front plate is completely intact and reads “In Treue Fest”. The spike and top plate are also intact, but there is one rivet missing from the back side. The rivets are being held in place by small pieces of modern leather stripping and wood dowels. The original leather liner shows drying and cracking throughout. The black outer shell has its original finish. There is some light surface cracking and chipping in the finish here and there – not bad at all for its age.
