Description
5/7/26- For sale is a German M1898 sawback bayonet. The very long and slender M1898 was the first bayonet introduced for the G98 rifle and provided excellent reach but was prone to bending and snapping if too much force was placed on it. The blade has notable patina but no notable edge chipping or signs of rust. The blade is marked “V. C. Schilling Suhl” and the spine is marked with the imperial crest and the year “05”, indicating manufacture in 1905. The two wooden grip panels are intact and undamaged apart from some light wear. The scabbard is leather with metal upper and lower fittings. The leather is still but undamaged. Overall in very good condition.
