Description

2/26/25 -This is a rare and Colt Cavalry Model Single Action Army revolver from 1874. It is completely matching and U.S. military accepted. Proper 7.5in barrel with Ainsworth ‘A’ on barrel, trigger guard, top of back strap, and cylinder. Orville W. Ainsworth’s inspection is also still visible on the left grip panel. Matching serial numbers throughout (barrel, cylinder, trigger guard, frame, grip strap). Correct two-line patent date (Sept / July) on left side of frame. The top of the barrel has “+COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.” marking with the die break in the “o” in “Co.”, and the left of the frame has the “U.S.” martial marking. The ejector rod has a correct bullseye head. Unfortunately, about two inches down from the muzzle there is repaired break in the barrel. It is a bit hard to see but can be discovered under close examination (most visible from inside the bore). Overall, the gun is in fair condition. Most of the finish is worn with brown patina throughout and some areas of more obvious spotty oxidation here and there. The right grip panel is carved “Grovenlres”. The bore shows obvious spotty surface oxidation and pitting throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.
