6/29/23 – This is a near-excellent condition example of a 1943 hard shell style P.38 holster from WW2. The holster has black leather and all original straw colored stitching. The back leather is maker and date stamped, waffen proof stamped, and P.38 stamped. The leather is soft and pliable with signs of normal previous use and aging. There’s light wrinkling on the closure strap, but the biggest takeaway is there are two slits cut in the front and back toe of the holster. This is likely a G.I. modification for a leg strap, which is often how the M1916 holsters were worn. So this is a great condition example of a GI bring-back 1943 P.38 holster.
