5/24/24 – This is a near-excellent condition example of a later WW2 production P.38 holster. The holster is soft-shell style (late-war style) with normal pliability and all original stitching intact. The back leather is stamped with a crisp maker code, date, P.38 designation, and waffen military proof. The leather shows a faint “shadow” or outline from holding a P.38 previously, a sign of honest use / action during the war. The exterior leather is brown, but there’s thin traces of black dye throughout, which suggests the dye has worn away or was perhaps intentionally removed for some reason. It could also have left the factory without a good coating of dye, which is a plausible assumption for late-war rushed production. Either way, the holster is a top example of a late war P.38 holster.
