2/3/24 – This is a correct example of a Springfield M1 Garand from 1943. The serial number on the receiver dates to about May of 1943. The barrel is Springfield marked and dated 6-43. The left side of the stock has the proper military cartouches. There are added rack numbers to the bottom edge of the butt stock. The finish on the metal parts rates about 93-95% with just some minor wear on the gas tube. There are tiny scratches and bruises on the wood furniture, a couple of hairline cracks in the upper handguard, and what looks like some water staining on the butt stock. The forward handguard is a little loose. The bore has good rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout. Muzzle reading: 2.5. Throat reading: 2.5.
