4/12/23 – This is a nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand issued to the US military during WW2. Both the receiver and barrel date to November of 1943. The barrel is also Springfield marked. The left side of the stock has a nice Springfield inspection stamp, and there are cross-canon cartouches on the left side of the stock and a small on the wrist. The gun has retained about 95% of its original finish. There is just general high edge wear and wear around the muzzle. While there isn’t a lot of actual finish loss, there is spotty brown patina along the barrel. There is no major damage to the wood furniture, but there are noticeable bruises and dings throughout. A few more noticeable gouges on the front handguard. The bore has decent rifling, but there is frosting and minor pin-pricking throughout. Muzzle reading: 5. Throat reading: 2.
