3/24/2023 – This is a 1950s Springfield M1 Garand. The receiver and barrel are both Springfield marked and date to 1950s. There is a DOD approval stamp on the left side of stock, and a rack number on right side of butt stock. This gun was sold to the public as a part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Comes with its original certificate of authenticity and a letter from the department of the army in response to an FOIA request regarding this particular gun. Also comes with its original hang tag. It has retained roughly 98% of its finish, with just some minor high edge wear. No major damage to the wood stock, but there is obvious bruising throughout, and a couple of small gouges here and there. Bore has strong rifling, but there is minor pin pricking throughout. Muzzle reading is 3 and throat reading is 1.
