3/20/24 – This is an early, 5-digit Springfield M1 Garand. The serial number dates to about February of 1930. The gun has been reworked, and many of the parts have been replaced. Import mark on the barrel. Barrel is dated 1957. Replacement wood stock. There is obvious finish loss on the gas tube and some pin-pricking under the finish on the receiver. Minty wood. The bore has decent rifling, but there is spotty oxidation and pitting throughout. The action is very tight – hard to get the op rod back.
