The wound badge was Germany’s award recognizing injured soldiers and the gold badge was awarded after five wounds, symbolizing a very dedicated or lucky soldier. The badge itself is a thin piece of stamped metal, usually gilded steel or brass. The badge has minor wear and patina, and the attachment pin on the back is intact and functional. Overall in very good condition.
