Description
10/5/23 – This is an original 1939 dated K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet blade has light patina and speckling discoloration throughout, but most of the original finish remains (although it’s thinning). The base of the blade is maker stamped on one side, and serial numbered on the other side. The spine of the blade is ’39 dated. The cross guard and metal portions of the handle / pommel are missing most of the finish and there’s dark discoloration throughout. The grips have no cracks or chips. The scabbard is serial numbered to the blade, and is missing almost all of the finish, leaving a metallic color with browning patina throughout. The leather frog is in great shape with a 1937 date and maker stamp on the back.
