1/30/24 – This is an early Austrian Steyr Pieper model 1908 pistol in all original configuration. It is ’10 dated, and production only started in 1909 but continued through until 1929. ¬These pistols are an unusual blowback type with tip-down barrel. ¬The barrel is retained with a pivoting bolt and is held by a thumb latch barrel-locking mechanism. ¬Manufacture started in 1909 and was suspended in 1911, then resumed in 1919 and wrapped up in 1929. ¬The finish rates about 98% with minor muzzle wear, minor high edge wear, and a light scratch on the left side. Excellent fire-blue on the small parts. Comes with two magazines. The bore has pretty good rifling, but there is some fouling in the grooves.
