3/21/23 – This is a nice example of a rare BYF 42 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It is a first-year Mauser production, where only 19,000 of these were made, making it only slightly more common than the zero series or Nazi-marked svw 45’s. All matching and has the proper “Eagle 135” military acceptance proofs throughout. It has retained about 90-92% of its original finish with wear around the high edges in general and thinning on the right side of the slide and barrel. While there isn’t a whole lot of actual finish loss, there is noticeable brown patina covering the whole gun. Excellent blackish-brown bakelite grips. Comes with a period-correct “Eagle 135” proofed Mauser magazine. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout. De-cocker is functional.
