4/19/23 – This is a rare variation T30 Japanese Bayonet made by Hoten Zoheisho (also known as “Mukden”) Arsenal. Only about 3,000 bayonets were made from this arsenal during WW2. The bayonet is referred to as a Variation A in Labar’s book, featuring a hooked cross guard, contoured wood grips with 2 screws and washers, bird’s head pommel, bright, fullered blade, and a ball-tipped metal scabbard. The blade has dark discoloration, mostly near the tip. There’s some dents and imperfections along the edge from use as well. No rust or pitting however. The hand guard and pommel have mild surface patina mixed within the original finish. The grips are in great condition. Serial numbered on the pommel. The metal scabbard is excellent with no dents and some mild surface patina throughout.
