Description
06/14/2024 – For sale is a rare M1891 Mosin Nagant Issued to US forces. After the Communist Revolution in Russia, the Russians would default on their contract with Remington and New England Westinghouse. The companies were in danger of going under so the US Government would purchase the remaining Mosin Nagants and issue them to the National Guard, ROTC, etc to free up 1917s and 1903s for the war effort. (see last photo). The rifles would be stamped with Eagle head Proofs and the US Flaming bomb. Many Mosin Nagant rifles would also be issued to the US Expeditionary Force to Russia in August 1918 from stockpiles in England. This example is in excellent condition with the exterior barely seeing any dents or bruises. The metal retains a nice deep bluing but the barrel has some wear on the finish. The stock is clean and free of cracks. There is a Russian stamp on the left of the stock for “English Contract” and a US Flaming bomb on the bottom of the stock in front of the magazine. This rifle is matching on the bolt, barrel shank, and buttpalte. The magazine floor is unnumbered. The bore is dark but the rifling is well defined when shining a light.
