12/13/24 – This is a beautiful example of a rare post-liberation FN Browning High Power, assembled immediately after WW2. This variation is discussed on page 759 of Volume II of Vanderlinden’s FN book. From the book “The post liberation 44,000 series is often confused for prewar assembly. The frame and slide were 1940 manufactured but assembled and numbered in 1945 after all hidden parts were recovered. The pistols can be identified by the following: Stacked serial numbers, MR or WaA markings on the barrel, the large digit “1” or square “A” on right trigger guard, rough occupation produced trigger, lacking magazine safety, and serial number range 44001-approx. 44150 range.” Ours here is in the proper serial range, has a Waffen 140 proof on the barrel, and has the proper early features, such as tangent rear sight and slotted frame. It has retained nearly all of its finish with just a couple of small marks on the front strap. Fitted with wood grips – minor bruising on both sides. Comes with an appropriate magazine. Mint bore.
