5/21/24 – This is a rare less than 75,000 made US R.I.A. M1905 bayonet with a type 2 leather scabbard. 1906 RIA blade (rare) with a 1907 scabbard. The scabbard is type 2 meaning it has a long throat. This is a first year production. The blade is in overall great condition, sharpened, with some light oxidation on the spine and other spots around the blade. The blade is US marked on one side. On the other it is dated 1906 with the maker R.I.A. A excellent wood grip. The hand guard and pommel have some light wear but no sides of oxidation or pitting. The spine of the grip is marked with an “A.” The Leather scabbard is in nice condition with all of its original components. The leathers stitching has come undone on one side so it is open. The material underneath is still intact and tightly stitched. The leather has some honest wear throughout. The leather is marked “R.I.A. 1907 EEB.” The metal components have some light oxidation. All the components swivel as they should and the locking mechanism works properly.
