4/10/25 – This is a very nice example of a Spanish Alkartasuna Ruby pistol, manufactured for the French military in WWI. All matching. It comes as a rig with one magazine and a period-correct tan leather holster with a cleaning rod. Its original finish rates about 93%. While there isn’t a ton of actual finish loss, there is some spotty oxidation and tiny pitting here and there. Fitted with nice period-correct wood grips. The bore shows noticeable pitting throughout, and there is a bulge in the barrel. This particular gun comes with the original copy of the WW2 capture document. It lists this exact gun by serial number and names the American GI who brought this rig home, Paul W. Bourland. Our consignor did extensive research on Mr. Bourland and was able to find some really interesting information. Paul was in the Texas National Guard prior to WWII. During the war, he ended up as the First Sergeant of Company K, 3rd Bn., 395th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. Attached is a personnel report with his name visible at the very bottom. You can see he is also pictured in the TXNG yearbook prior to the war. Also included in the photos is some information from his obituary and a photo of his headstone.
