6/14/23 – This is an original WW2 production Type 98 Army Officer’s Sword. The sword comes with standard T98 Army wartime production fittings and scabbard. The signature on the hilt is most interesting in this example; we’re told the translation states the sword is 1941 production made for order by Mr. Mori Mitsuo, made by Kanenao. The blade is in great condition with a distinct wavy tempered edge. There are small areas of light speckling oxidation and surface discoloration near the edge of the blade, as well as scattered areas on either side of the blade and near the tip. There’s also some mild discoloration on the spine of the blade, but overall the blade is very clean with no major issues. The fittings are all in great condition with typical surface patina and aging. The scabbard is in great overall condition.
