3/22/23 – This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 rifle issued to the US military in 1900. Overall, the gun has retained roughly half of its original finish. The majority of the finish loss is on the receiver. There is noticeable brown patina and spotty oxidation on virtually all of the metal parts. There is still some really nice fire bluing on the top of the bolt. The stock has a crisp 1900 date and military inspection stamp. No major damage to the wood, but there is noticeable bruising and scratching throughout. The bore has strong rifling, but there are spots of oxidation along the bore.
