Description
1/8/25 – This is a nice example of a Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor rifle, chambered in .45-70. The serial number is 300163, which dates the receiver to about 1885. There are US military inspection proofs on the breech and the barrel and a military cartouche on the stock that is dated 1885. Overall, the gun is in fair condition. There isn’t a ton of actual finish loss, but there is heavy brown patina throughout. Very nice wood stock for its age. Near-mint bore.
