7/26/23 – This is an original WW2 German Canteen. The canteen is in near-excellent overall condition, and complete with all straps intact, the original wool insulation covering, and the olive green painted metal cover / cup piece. The canteen is red enamel painted steel (late war style) and doesn’t have any notable dents or issues. The wool insulation cover has some sun stains from where the metal top and straps, which helps prove this canteen has been untouched for some time. There’s some mild staining and a few imperfections from age on the wool. The top lid / cup piece has mild edge wear and light speckling patina. The leather straps have some mild edge wear and wrinkling but no cracks or major issues. The interior of the leather lid strap is ink stamped with a RBNr. as shown. A high condition example.
