10/1/24 – This is a great example of an original WW2 production Luftwaffe Paratrooper (Fallschirmjager) badge made by Assmann. The badge is made of two pieces from zinc, this badge appears to have been polished at some point in the past. This example is what is referred to as a “Type I” badge and has the stereotypical pancake style rivets that is associated with this type. The eagle on this badge is slightly loose, but is still secured to the wreath. The pin and catch on this example are still functional. The eagle from beak to furthest wing tip is 51.6mm in length, the wreath is 52.5mm tall and 41.3mm wide.
