12/29/23 – This is a field carry case for 2 spare MG34 machine gun barrels. A fairly uncommon item; these were used to carry spare barrels as the German machine guns had a tendency to overheat during battle, and required quick barrel swaps for efficient use. This case is missing most of the exterior finish, leaving the steel metal color we see today. There’s light surface patina throughout the exterior, but the markings are still clear. There’s a waffen military proof stamp, 1939 date, and maker code. Functional closure / locking lid, and comes with an original canvas shoulder sling still attached.
