6/13/23 – This is a very nice example of a Steyr Model 1895 Mannlicher rifle issued to the Dutch military in 1898. It is all matching (except for the stock, which is un-numbered) and has the proper Dutch proofs throughout. There is a “40” rack number on the stock and a Hembrug “Crown W” Queen Wilhelmina seal on the right of the butt stock, dated 1915. The metal parts have retained most of their finish, but there is spotty oxidation throughout. A small area of wear on the chamber and thinning on the magazine. Heavier oxidation on the butt plate. No major damage to the wood furniture, but there are obvious signs of use throughout. Very nice bore with good rifling.
