Description
4/10/23 – This is a nice example of an Enfield No 1 Mk III rifle issued to the British military in 1917. The gun is mismatched and has an import mark on the left side of the receiver. There is an “RFI 1923” marking near the left side of the handguard, indicating it was reworked at the Ishapore Arsenal in 1923. The metal parts have lost the majority of their finish with obvious thinning throughout. Spotty oxidation and some light surface rust around the muzzle. There is no major damage to the wood furniture, but there are obvious signs of use – bruising and scratches throughout. The bore has decent rifling, but there is tiny pitting throughout.
