9/6/23 – This is a fairly rare Astra Model 900 that was manufactured sometime in the early to mid 1930’s. The Astra 900 was a pistol developed to take advantage of a large Chinese demand for semiauto pistols with shoulder stocks, following the massive sales of the Mauser C96 in that country. There was a loophole in the international treaty accords that stocked pistols were not considered military arms, so civil war in China had a huge market for arms that this variant was able to meet.There were only ~21,000 of these pistols produced. Large ring hammer and 1000 meter tangent sight. This one is matching and comes as a rig with a rare period-correct leather holster with purple-colored canvas lining. The gun itself has retained somewhere between 85-90% of itsfinish. The wear is concentrated mostly around the high edges. There are areas of discoloration here and there. Some areas have been touched up with cold blue. Fitted with original matching-numbered wood grips. The condition of the bore is poor – the rifling is almost completely worn with pitting throughout.
