8/4/23 – This is a very nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand. The receiver has a very early serial number, dating to about September of 1939. Springfield barrel dated November of 1946. The left side of the stock has a proper Springfield inspection stamp and cross-canon military cartouche. The metal parts have retained roughly 85% of their finish with minor wear around the muzzle and on the high edges. Some areas of minor thinning here and there. One small spot of dark discoloration on the left side of the receiver. Overall, the stock is very nice, but there are what look like small circular sanding witness marks all over. The bore has good rifling with pin-pricking throughout. Muzzle reading: 2. Throat reading: 2.
