10/5/23 – This is an excellent example of a “byf 44” code Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. The gun is mostly matching, but some of the small parts of the bolt are mismatched. Interestingly enough, the mismatched numbers end in “63” and some of the numbers are even upside-down. So we suppose it’s possible that this is just a factory mistake, but we can’t say for sure. The bluing rates about 95% with minor high edge wear and thinning on the floor plate. Excellent wood furniture with a crisp waffen proof on the right side of the butt stock. Factory-new bore. Comes with a period-correct leather sling and a rubber muzzle cap.
