9/13/24 -This is a a great example of an Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) dagger with an ivory handle as well as it’s hangers and portepee.The blade of the dagger is in great condition. The blade is not maker marked, the naval motif is still very strong and visible.The blade on this dagger maintains almost all of its original nickel plating, with some small areas of plating loss primarily at the bottom and tip of the blade. The portepee and knot on this dagger are in excellent condition, the cord has no fraying and the knot remains tight. The locking mechanism for the dagger and scabbard remains functional and still has a strong lockup. This dagger also still has it’s original leather and cloth discs that cushion the scabbard. The scabbard on this dagger is in good condition, it has some dents, but still remains straight. The scabbard appears to have been gold plated at one point, but this plating is almost entirely gone. The hangers on the dagger are in great condition with no damage on either the fabric or the felt/velvety backing material.
