02/27/2024 – For sale is a Late war Type 99 Arisaka made at the Izawa Jyuko Factory around 1945. This is a 9th series rifle so it’s the last batch of rifles Izawa Jyuko made before the war ended. The rifle has many late war features like a simplified stock, barrel bands, single peep rear sight, and bolt. The rifle has a bolt mismatch but is another late-series bolt. The Imperial Mum has also been ground away as typical from bringbacks. The stock has an Imperial Navy flag painted with the words “Sasebo, Japan 1945” which was likely done by the GI that brought the rifle home. Sasebo is a port city in western Japan. The bore is fairly dark with moderate rifling.
