8/2/23 – This is an original M1921 Mauser “Bolo”, manufactured in the late 1920’s. The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed restrictions on pistol barrel lengths and calibers on German arms manufacturers. Mauser began manufacturing a compliant version of the C96 for commercial sale with shorter, 3.9 inch barrel. This one is matching and comes with a period-correct wood stock – numbered but not matching to the gun. There are hairline cracks on both sides and a dovetail wood repair on one side. The gun itself has retained roughly 75% of its original finish. There is obvious wear throughout, concentrated mostly along the barrel, on the left side of the frame, and around the high edges in general. Areas of spotty oxidation here and there, most noticeable on the left side of the barrel and at the back of the frame, near the hammer and safety. Fitted with matching-numbered wood grips – some bruising and dings on both sides. The bore has great rifling with just very minor pin-pricking in the grooves.
