7/6/23 – This is a super early and rare Colt M1911 from 1912.This one features the early patent date slide with WGP inspector’s mark and serial number in the first 8,000 produced.Slide is marked with an ‘H’ at the rear, and early barrel has a vertical ‘H’ on the hood.The bluing on the pistol doesn’t show that much actual finish loss aside from the grip safety/mainspring, but there is surface rust/corrosion in several areas.Early recoil plug with inward pinch but this pistol has the wrong barrel bushing so the plug doesn’t sit flush inside the bushing.The left side of the frame is roll stamped with the small “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” adopted at serial number 104. The “WPG” final inspection monogram of Ordnance Inspector Major Walter J. Penfield is stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release.Early keyhole magazine has worn finish.Excellent bore.The wood grips are a bit later but WW1 original and have only minor handling wear.
