05/20/26 – For sale is a Springfield M1 Garand manufactured in April of 1940, this rifle left Springfield Armory as a Type 2 Gas Trap. It would have been among the last gas trap rifles Springfield produced. It has since been restored back to its original gas trap configuration. The rifle features a Flush nut aperture rear sight w/ B8872 marked cover, early style blade front sight w/ flared protective ears, D28287-1 D5 marked bolt, reproduction type 2 gas cylinder with appropriate drawing number, correct D35382-1SA Op-Rod that is uncut. The Receiver does not have the seventh round modification. The early stock is correctly inspected “SA/SPG” featuring a one piece butt plate with milled and grooved bands.
