5/16/23 – This is an example of a St. Etienne Gaulois No 1 Palm Pistol, manufactured from 1895 to 1912. It uses a tactile “squeeze fire” action with an internal magazine. Has a single bead sight on the barrel rib with a manufacturer mark on the rear of the frame at the top, “Cal. 8m/m” at the front, “No./1” on the dust cover, and the manufacture Francoise logo along with “GAULOIS” on the barrel. The left side of the action has a unique three-position “S/F/D” (safe/fire/unload) safety switch. It has retained roughly 85% of its original finish. There is spotty oxidation and areas of light pin-pricking throughout. Some spotty discoloration on the front strap. Most of the case-hardening on the action is intact. The bore has noticeable pitting throughout. Comes with the original red and black hard rubber pad, which functions as both the trigger mechanism and grip and is in excellent condition, with sharp checkering and no chips or cracks.
